Adult Sunday School

Sunday School classSunday School classes meet every Sunday morning from 9:30-10:30am. First Church offers several classes with a variety of topics. For more information contact our Executive Pastor, Kirk Norman.

Good News Class (Room 235)

The Good News Class is focused on THE GOOD NEWS of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Creator. They are mature Christians and not new to the Gospel, but they welcome any newcomer to Christ with love and nurturing. They are “spirit filled”, believe in all the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and believe in God’s healing and His miracles, with many victorious testimonies given in class. Sunday school lessons are taken from both the Old and New Testaments, as they apply to our everyday lives. Pastor Glen Howard is the class teacher, and he brings much wisdom and depth from his knowledge of the Scriptures. We spend time praying for one another and sharing praise reports of what Christ has done for them each week. The class also enjoys spending social time with each other, and have frequent Saturday night get-togethers. The Good News Class would love to have anyone come and be a part of their Sunday school “family.”

Joint Heirs Class (Room 232)

This discussion-style class addresses everyday issues, using sound and practical applications of the Scriptures. The Joint Heirs class community includes those who are "still young" and those "more mature," both in age, as well as in their spiritual formation. Together, we desire to become passionately committed to Jesus Christ, and to proclaim the Gospel through radical love and selfless good deeds.

Bereans Class (Room 230)

“Now the Bereans were of noble character, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.” (Acts 17:11)  The Bereans Class is an in-depth study of the Bible. Come learn what the Biblical authors said, to whom did they said it, and how the church has historically interpreted their statements? The Bible is a Jewish document given to reveal God’s relationship with his people, and the writers had specific meaning in what they said. If you want to know what the Bible says and what it means, you will enjoy being part of the Bereans Class.

Upper Room Class (Room 234)

The Upper Room Class is comprised of adults who are primarily over 55 years of age, but it is open to everyone. Teaching focuses on applying scripture to everyday life in a way that increases our faith and ability to be overcomers. The class has a weekly prayer time and utilizes an email prayer chain to meet any concerns that arise. The Upper Room Class has the feeling of an extended family, where needs are met and each person receives loving care in times of need. Come and enjoy a vibrant growing class of true believers!

Intercessory Prayer Class (Room 237)

Intercessory Prayer is a class of dedicated persons who find their spiritual gift is interceding on behalf of others, situations which arise in peoples lives, or circumstances around the world. This class meets each Sunday morning during the Sunday school hour to pray for the requests from our Heartland Chapel, Prayer Line, and individual offerings from each weeks activities. This class is truly dedicated to the spiritual well-being of all persons. If you feel your spiritual gift is one of intercession, you are invited to attend this Sunday morning fellowship. The class is always looking for persons to share in this time.

Water Walkers Class (Room 231)

A younger adult class, for singles and marrieds in their 20s and 30s. The class is currently learning about evangelism studying Bill Hybel's book, Just a Walk Across the Room, which shows us all that much like Jesus took a walk across the universe for us, so too are we called to take a walk across the room and reach out to others.

The Living Room (Room 229)

This class is designed for young adults in their early to mid 20s, in college or new to a career. It features small group discussion and topics relevant to the lives of young people today, focusing on developing a closer relationship with God, and living our faith in the real world.
