- Mark McAdow
We’ve been “surfing thru the scriptures” all this week in our Vacation Bible School “Beach Party!” We’ve learned some surfing techniques like the “helicopter,” "pop ups” and “hang ten” from “Sandy Castle” and some GREAT “Beach Be-attitudes” too. We learned about how science relates to our faith, famous missionaries ( including our own!), and experienced Bible stories and characters from the Bible. We made snack bags for the homeless and collected money to help send a kid to camp in the large blue water jug. Our children have learned to “Be… obedient, kind, forgiving and BOLD!” Not a bad theme for kids of all ages to learn and to practice! Sounds a lot like the Fruit of the Spirit found in Galatians 5:22-23 which just happens to be this summer’s preaching series: 100% Fruit. We got off to great start last Sunday speaking about True Love and this week about something we all want and need as well – Genuine JOY! Why don’t you invite someone to join you for worship this Sunday at First Church? They’ll get to hear our VBS Kids sing, enjoy heart -healthy worship and a practical life message too!
Next Wednesday join us at 6:00pm for Prayer & Praise in the sanctuary and bring your walking shoes! We’ll begin with a time of praise and then pair off (no pun intended) to do a “Prayer Walk” in the downtown neighborhood (non-walkers can stay and pray!). This will be a fun and healthy way to “love our downtown neighbors.” I’ll give a brief teaching on Prayerwalking and we’ll take off in all directions! This is one more step in reaching our 2008 Church goal to become a “Prayer Saturated” church and to influence Downtown OKC for Christ. Come join us!
Thanks for being such a giving church family. Thanks to all the Moms, Grandma’s and Dads who gave your evenings this week to love our kids closer to Jesus Christ. It was my pleasure to get to pray with each group of kids to receive or recommit their lives to Jesus! First Church is a great church and I’m very blessed to be your pastor!
I can’t wait to see you Sunday!
Yours In Christ,
Mark
PS. E.G. is coming!!! More details next week!
